Small Buffalo Herd, Grazing On The Tall Grass

Description

This video footage was taken in Yellowstone National Park. It shows a small portion of the Lamar Valley buffalo herd, resting and fedding along slough creek. Bison are drawn to feed and rest along the banks of Slough Creek in Yellowstone for a variety of compelling reasons. Primarily, this area offers an abundance of lush vegetation, providing these grazing animals with the necessary nutrients to sustain their large bodies. Additionally, the proximity to water is a critical factor; not only does it supply them with a constant source of hydration, but it also helps keep them cool during the warmer months. The open spaces along Slough Creek also offer safety by allowing the bison to easily spot predators, ensuring a peaceful environment for resting and feeding.
